Bark for Life Event June 22, 2013

Our club is sponsoring a booth this year at Bark for Life in downtown Hendersonville. The charity event raises funds for the American Cancer Society. We are also registered as a Team for the walk on Main Street.
Check-in is at 8:30am and the event is scheduled from 9am – 12pm.

Please support your club by either registering as a team member or making a donation. Enlist family,friends, and co-workers to particpate. Click on link: main.acsevents.org/site/TR?fr_id=47970&pg=entry

3. Scroll down to Hendersonville Kennel Club

4. Click on either Donate Now or Join Team:
If you are planning to attend, click on Join Team. You will be directed to another page where you can register as a team member. Follow the instructions. When finished, you will be given a home page where you can upload a photo or video. If you can’t attend, click on Donate Now. Follow instructions.

The Hendersonville Kennel Club’s June Membership Meeting will be held on Tuesday – June 18, 2013 at SEVEN in the evening (7:00 P.M.). There will be a Social held after this meeting.

June Meeting to be held at the “Orchards” Clubhouse (GPS – 127 Summerfield Place Flat Rock NC 28731)

Directions from Asheville: 1-26 East to Exit #53 (Upward Road Exit) Turn LEFT off the exit ramp onto Upward Road (Go 6/10 Mile) heading N.E.

Directions from South Carolina: 1-26 West to Exit #53 (Upward Road Exit) Turn RIGHT off the exit ramp onto Upward Road (Go 1/2 Mile) heading N.E.

Then: Turn LEFT onto South Orchard Road at the Traffic Light (Go 8/10 Mile) [The road has been straightened, and the entrance to S. Orchard Rd. is at the traffic light.] The entrance to the “Orchards” is on your left (Gatehouse). Turn LEFT onto Summerfield Place. The Clubhouse is directly in front of you. There is parking in front and to the left.

Jane Harlow Peck

We lost our dear friend Jane on August 5, 2012. Our condolences to her husband Bob and the Peck family. “She saw the glass half full. Her smile and laugh were contagious.”

Jane touched many of us in her 25 years of service to the Hendersonville Kennel Club. For years, she served as Obedience Chairman for the HKC Shows held in Greenville, SC. Jane was Show Chairman at our July 31, 2011 show.

Mrs. Peck served in various capacities on the HKC Board of Directors. She facilitated the Poster Contest for the elementary schools and conducted Canine Good Citizen (CGC) testing for the AKC.

Twenty years ago, Jane founded the “Paws for Love” therapy dog program in HendersonCountyand was its director for many years. She served as a tester/observer for Therapy Dogs Incorporated until recently.

Jane was a member of the Sandlapper Golden Retriever Club and the Obedience Club of Asheville. She organized, developed patterns and trained OCA participants to march in the Hendersonville Christmas Parade numerous times. Jane was very active in Foothills Golden Retriever Rescue. She showed in the breed ring as well as in obedience, trained, hunted and rescued her beloved “Goldens”.

Jane Peck’s Celebration of Life will be held at their church:

The First Congregational Church of Hendersonville, 1735Fifth Avenue West, Hendersonville, NC, on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at One in the afternoon.
